Happy New Year everyone!
What a ride. At this point I think I’m more excited for 2022 than I was for 2021, and hopefully some good things will come. I’ve got a lot planned, so hopefully it all works out in the end.
For a recap, I did not get to my goal of finishing The Necromancer’s Deceit. The problem was I had set my expectations too high without really understanding how I would accomplish those goals. I did set times aside for writing, but I would either opt out to watch a TV series or I just let other things take precedence, like doom scrolling on Facebook. Well not this year. This year I am planning to set myself up a writing schedule so I know when I’m supposed to write and will only give myself a limited amount of time to do so. I am trying to see if recreating that school environment of having “assignments” due at certain times throughout the year will help instead of just saying, “I’m gonna write a book by the end of the year.” I’m hoping it will work out better than it did last year, plus, since I have at least 3 stories in my head I want to give each of them the time and attention they need to grow.
On that note, I am still going to be writing more Muldrix stories. About the time that I wrote the third short story, ideas started to swirl about my head on how I can make this into a bigger story, and now it has completely blown up into something larger. However, I have decided that I don’t want to try submitting this to a publisher. Instead, I will continue to post segments, or “chapters” on this blog, and instead of pdf copies of my short stories I am going to learn how to publish them in an epub doc format. This will make it easier to read in reading apps as well as online. Also, with me writing more, my hope is to get more down that will be ready to post but keep to the same publishing schedule. Depending on how things go I might make it a monthly deal.
The third idea that I have and want to write is for my son. He absolutely loves the Harry Potter books and devours anything he can get his hands on about the subject. However, since he is autistic and acts much younger than his actual age, my wife and I wish to preserve that innocence for as long as possible. As such, we won’t be letting him read past the second book for a few more years. This is where my third idea will come in. For this third book I will be writing a fantasy story about my son and his adventures in a magical world. This would be something personal rather than business and it would be for our eyes only, but I might post a few chapters on here just so a few of you can see what it will be like. Once the project is completed, I will make a hardback copy to give to him for Christmas/birthday at the end of this year. I’m super excited and hope it goes well.
Now for a quick movie review. I finally got around to watching Encanto and I thought it was absolutely great! My kids love it so much they have watched it at least 8 times in the last week, and anytime we can they ask for the music to be put on so they can sing and dance to it. To say it enchanted me and my kids would be an understatement, especially since they seem to love it more than Frozen, and that’s saying a lot. So far, their favorite songs are Pressure, and We Don’t Talk about Bruno which has gotten stuck in my head more than once.
I’m super excited for this new year, and I hope that things will work out for everyone that pushes to achieve their dreams.
