March…The Wettest Month of the Year

Whew, this year is flying by! It only seems like yesterday we were hearing about COVID coming to the U. S., but that was three years ago now. Things have certainly changed since then, but I still feel like I am the same person. Some times everything rushes by us before we even know what is happening.

For Instance, just last year during my wife’s pregnancy I ended up taking a greater role in being a provider for our children than I have in the past. As I have mentioned before in previous posts, my wife was on bedrest for a good part of her pregnancy which meant that many of the chores and meals fell on my shoulders. During that time I was trying to make sure that the house was clean (or at least navigable) and that the kids were feed breakfast and dinner.

Now I know what your thinking, how could I have worked a full time job and fed my kids for both meals? Well my kids like to get an early start to their day, as I’m sure is the same for many other parents out there, and so along with cooking breakfast for myself I would make some for them. This didn’t always work out if they woke up later just before I had to leave, or if I happened to sleep in. But because of my kids sleeping schedule I was able to be there consistently for both breakfast and dinner since I would get off at 5. My wife and I miss those times and are hoping to recreate them again at some point where we can do it all as a family. Again I know that this was mentioned as an achievement in a previous post, but I feel that this certain aspect of my wife’s pregnancy was a big accomplishment considering all the work that was put in.

You’ll notice that I talk about my family a lot. Besides writing, reading, and watching fun movies one of my greatest joys in life is my family. I love spending time with my kids, sharing with them things from my childhood and letting them enjoy what I have enjoyed. I am still a nerd, I just hope that I can infect my kids with the same love that I have for those “nerdy” things.

Hobbies

No new updates on my blacksmithing. Things have been crazy at home since some of my kids have gotten sick, which makes it harder for cleaning when you have to take care of a sick kid over doing dishes. I am hoping to set some time aside in the coming weeks to really put some work into the project since I really want see what I can do.

Writing

My writing continues at a reasonable pace. I have recently changed my work flow at my job, which has allowed me more opportunities to write. Unfortunately, this has also given my scatter brain more time to spread itself thin as I feel like I can now do more. This is obviously not the case, and I will work on wrangling my brain into focusing on the tasks that I want to accomplish.

Now just because I haven’t added any new story content doesn’t mean that I’m not working on stuff. I have been able to add a couple more pages the last few weeks to Muldrix, but it may still be some time before I can start adding more.
