Happy Mother’s Day everyone!

Art by Jeff Easley

I am so very grateful for the mothers who have entered into my life. I’m very grateful for my own mother, who raised me and helped me to learn right from wrong, and has helped nurture my creativity.

I’m even more thankful for my loving wife. She does so much to take care of me and my children, and helps care for us each and every day. I think most men don’t really truly ever appreciate the value of what their wife does for them. It’s hard because we’re expected to be the breadwinner, the one who takes care of the physical needs of the family. But mothers do more than that, they take care of our physical, spiritual, and emotional needs. So pretty much everything. My wife is just as much, if not more drained by the days events that I am from work.

I have often forgotten this fact, when I get home, thinking that things have been easier for her because she hasn’t had to go to work or deal with people. But she’s had to do more than that. She’s had to deal with little people who barely understand life or what goes on to support the family. And in return, she has to take care of kids who don’t always listen to her or don’t always do their best to clean up after themselves. On top of that she has to take care of our laundry and feed the family. I know I don’t always say it often enough but I truly appreciate my wife and all that she does.

She truly does the most in our family and so often doesn’t get the appreciation she deserves.

I would not be where I am at today if it wasn’t for her. As I said, before I have taken for granted all the hard work she does for us. I believe Mother’s Day needs to be more than what it is. I think every day should be special where we appreciate the mothers in our lives. That way when Mother’s Day does come around, we can show them how deeply we love and care for them, and all that they do.

I love you, Carissa. You mean more to me than you’ll ever know.

This post won’t have anything else to say because I believe it should all be about mothers. I know that this post is coming a day late but again it should never be just on Mother’s Day that we give our appreciation to our mothers, but every day.
