Arclin is on the run from the law. Not because he wants to be, or because he did anything wrong, but because of who he is. Almost a decade ago, the revolution tore down the aristocratic rule of the shifters, those who can change shape at will, and was instead with regular folks. But what about those shifters who weren’t jailed or executed? Well, their on the run for their lives as they try to stay one step ahead of the new regime. Now if Arclin could only find his sisters then maybe he might be able to take them somewhere safe where people won’t hunt them for who they are.
Over 3,000 years in the past, Jha’dor goes before the three Arcosia in the Trial of Fire. What he wants is the chance to prove that he is worthy of the power promised to those who can withstand the dragon’s fire. What he gets is a title he never wanted, and a fate that will carry him down a path that can only lead to death, betrayal, and love.
